About Me

Hi!  I'm a 40ish registered dietitian nutritionist with a green-vegetable-averse husband, new baby boy and mildly food allergic dog.  I love eating and have learned to love cooking as the result.  Developing recipes and going way off track using someone else's recipe are tons of fun to me. While I focus on nutrient-rich, whole foods, I'm not above regular indulgences and wholeheartedly believe that delicious food, carefully prepared can help heal the body and soul.

Maple Syrup Cotton Candy - Hey, it was a special occasion!

My nutrition expertise is in pediatrics, school nutrition, food allergies and digestive disorders.  I'm fascinated by nutrition research and emerging science in areas like probiotics (can you imagine we have TRILLIONS of bacteria living on and in us?!) and nutrigenomics (how genes and nutrients interact).  I also just love learning and sharing about how food and eating really nutritious, delicious food regularly can change people's lives.  I write, speak and pontificate on all of these topics whenever I have the chance.

I adore farmers who grow real food in the real dirt. I also realize that farming is much harder and more sophisticated than most people believe.  I'll stick to nutrition and dietetics.  However, I do have two raised beds that produce more peppers, tomatoes and herbs that I can use, but not a lot else.

Love the picking much more than the planting!
I'm also a Christ follower and lover of scripture.  The love of Jesus and God's Word has transformed my life, given me purpose and hope, and provides direction for each step on my 100 year journey.  I like to share my faith in the hopes that others will find it encouraging.

Join me here on a regular basis as I share my story of walking, eating, and working through life, imperfectly - one day at a time.
Be Healthy,
Sherry
